Taking off from Daggerboard's Last Days of Studio A, Daggerboard and The Skipper lands solidly in a jazz with amazing strings, vibes, and Erik's soaring trumpet all atop Henry's driving stand-up bass and Mike Hughes rock solid beat. Also Featured are two compositions and outstanding guitar work by Ross Howe (Throttle Elevator Music Final Floor), Roger Glenn on Vibes (Donald Byrd) and a string section featuring Mads Tolling on first violin.

Daggerboard
Daggerboard picks up where Throttle Elevator Music left off with musician and writer Gregory Howe, drummer Mike Hughes guitarist Ross Howe, vibraphonist Roger Glenn, and the great Henry “The Skipper” Franklin (Blackjazz Records) on stand-up bass.
Also featured is a string section featuring Mads Tolling. For their third release Mike Clark and Babatunde Lea join to form an all time great rhythm section below Matt Clark's brilliant Rhodes and Erik Jekabson's soaring trumpet.
Erik Jekabson
Erik Jekabson is a freelance trumpet player, composer, arranger and educator living in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has toured with Illinois Jacquet, John Mayer, Galactic, and has performed on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with David Letterman.
Gregory Howe
Gregory Howe founded Wide Hive Records in 1996. While primarily active as producer, mixer, and composer, Howe also performs guitar, synthesizer, turntable, voice and percussion on many recordings. From 1996 to 2024 Howe recorded and released albums for Throttle Elevator Music with Kamasi Washington, Roscoe Mitchell, Mike Clark, Dissent, Erik Jekabson, Calvin Keys, Phil Ranelin (Pharoah Sanders, Henry Franklin, Big Black), Wide Hive Players and the incomparable artist and guitarist Larry Coryell.
Henry Franklin, The Skipper
Henry Franklin is a jazz double-bassist who is perhaps best known for his solo albums The Skipper and The Skipper at Home on cult label Blackjazz Records. Henry has also toured and recorded with Hugh Masekela on his 1968 number one single, "Grazing in the Grass," and played with Masekela’s band at the Monterey International Pop Festival in June 1967.
Franklin has played and recorded with Freddie Hubbard, Bobbi Humphrey, Willie Bobo, Archie Shepp, Don Cherry, Count Basie, Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers, O.C. Smith, and Al Jarreau.
Mike Hughes
Michael Hughes is an American drummer living in the San Francisco Bay Area. He studied drumming at L.A. Music Academy with Joe Porcaro and Ralph Humphrey and spent a decade performing in LA with artists such as Tal Wilkenfeld, Frank Gambale, and Robben Ford. He is the drummer on "Heavy Feel" by Larry Coryell as well as Throttle Elevator Music's "Area J" and "Jagged Rocks" featuring Kamasi Washington.
Roger Glenn
Recognized as a master flute and vibraphone player, Roger Glenn has played and recorded with such giants of Jazz and Latin music as Dizzy Gillespie, Mongo Santamaria, Herbie Mann, Cal Tjader and Rosemary Clooney, to name just a few.
Ross Howe
Ross Howe is a Bay Area guitar player and music educator. He performs with several gypsy jazz ensembles in and around the San Francisco Bay Area but mainly leads his own band The Yacht Club of Paris. His playing incorporates elements of the classical tradition with the vocabulary of modern jazz. Ross was named "Jazz in the Neighborhoods "Rising Star" in 2015.
Mike Clark
