Wide Hive Records and Angle Iron Music present Gregory Howe’s first solo album. Stepping out from the role of producer into artist, Gregory Howe joins forces with longtime collaborator Matt Montgomery (Throttle Elevator Music) to create an all acoustic album of eighteen original songs. Joining them are excellent cast of musicians including superb vocalist Rosie Steffy, virtuoso violinist Laurel Thomsen, outstanding cellist Stefanie Vartabedian, organist Matt Cunitz, accordionist Dan Cantrell, lead guitarist Mike Ramos, and Wide Hive compatriot vocalist Nathalie Sanchez.

This recording also marks the debut of Angle Iron Music, a sub label of Wide Hive Records that focuses on modern music with a vintage feel. Overall Gregory Howe’s debut features eighteen all new original songs with a sound full of guitar, piano, lush strings and beautiful vocals.

    Gregory Howe

    Gregory Howe founded Wide Hive Records in 1996. While primarily active as producer, mixer, and composer, Howe also performs guitar, synthesizer, turntable, voice and percussion on many recordings. From 1996 to 2024 Howe recorded and released albums for Throttle Elevator Music with Kamasi Washington, Roscoe Mitchell, Mike Clark, Dissent, Erik Jekabson, Calvin Keys, Phil Ranelin (Pharoah Sanders, Henry Franklin, Big Black), Wide Hive Players and the incomparable artist and guitarist Larry Coryell.

    Laurel Thomsen

    Laurel Thomsen is an American violinist, composer, and musical educator who has performed and recorded both symphony orchestras and singer-songwriters alike since 1998. Classically trained, Laurel is often sought after as a violinist for her versatility to connect with many types of music.

    Matt Cunitz

    Matt Cunitz is a San Francisco Bay Area keyboardist and multi instrumentalist with a vast understanding of keyboards and synthesizers virtually unparalleled in today's musical community. He performs with many groups and appears on several Dissent releases.

    Matt Montgomery

    Matt Montgomery plays the bass, writes music, and plays piano/keyboards. He has performed and/or recorded with Faye Carol, Calvin Keys, Larry Coryell, Mark Levine, Phil Ranelin, singer/songwriters Cass McCombs, Greg Ashley, Adam Stephens (of Two Gallants), Grammy-winning producer Joe Chiccarelli, and many more.

    Nathalie Sanchez

    Nathalie Sanchez is the primary voice behind dissent. Working with Gregory Howe, she created three albums: dissent, Swap Meet Seers, and Primal Deconstruction. She has collaborated with Kaskade, GE-Ology, Tommy Guerrero, DJ Boogie, Headnodic, and Ticklah.

    Rosie Steffy

    Rosie Steffy is a East Bay Area based artist, vocalist and musical educator. She has performed and recorded with several bands and is currently lead singer and
    musician in 'La Dee Da, an Oakland Inde rock band. She also teaches both piano and singing and travels almost exclusively by bicycle.
